For solo women travelers, avoiding too-tight clothes, keeping the shoulders and knees covered, and avoiding necklines would be better. Men should also opt for decent attire. – Wearing shorts is not very common in Egypt, and dressing decently is a form of respect for the local culture. – The metro in Cairo has separate wagons for women, which are more comfortable, especially at rush hour when the wagons are full.
